6. Meta Introduces Vibes AI Video Platform

Meta launched Vibes, an AI-powered video platform in the Meta AI app and meta.ai. Users can create short AI-generated videos from prompts or templates and remix shared content. The platform supports Meta’s AI expansion across Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, emphasizing AI as the primary tool for social media video creation.

Cybersecurity

1. Phantom Taurus: China-Linked Hacker Targets Governments

Phantom Taurus, a China-aligned group, has targeted African, Middle Eastern, and Asian government and telecom organizations using custom NET-STAR malware for espionage. Exploiting IIS and Microsoft Exchange flaws, the group steals diplomatic and defense data, adapting tactics rapidly. Their operations coincide with geopolitical events, showing advanced evasion and persistence.

2. Google Gemini AI Flaws Exposed

Three vulnerabilities in Google’s Gemini AI, dubbed Gemini Trifecta, allowed prompt injection and cloud exploits risking users’ saved data and location. Flaws affected Gemini Cloud Assist, Search Personalization, and Browsing Tool. Google patched the issues, emphasizing AI security as critical to prevent data exfiltration.

3. UK Seizes $7.39B in Bitcoin

UK authorities confiscated £5.5 billion ($7.39B) in Bitcoin from Chinese national Zhimin Qian, linked to a fraud affecting 128,000 victims. Authorities seized 61,000 BTC in what’s now the world’s biggest crypto bust. Qian, who fled China in 2018, has pleaded guilty in London and now awaits sentencing.

4. CISA Warns of Critical Sudo Flaw

CISA added CVE-2025-32463 to its KEV catalog, a critical Sudo flaw that lets a local attacker gain root by abusing the -R option on affected Linux/Unix systems. Agencies are advised to patch by October 20, 2025. Four other critical vulnerabilities in Cisco, Fortra, Adminer, and Libraesva were also flagged.

5. EvilAI Malware Masquerades as AI Tools

Trend Micro reports EvilAI campaign using fake AI apps (AppSuite, PDF Editor, OneStart) to distribute malware globally across manufacturing, healthcare, tech, and retail sectors. Malware maintains persistence, exfiltrates data, and communicates with C2 servers while appearing legitimate via code-signing certificates. Campaign shows advanced evasion and global reach.

Quantum Computing

1. Harvard Achieves 3,000-Qubit Breakthrough

Harvard, teaming up with MIT and QuEra Computing, unveiled a 3,000-qubit quantum computer that can run nonstop for over two hours. It cycles 50 million atoms while keeping quantum states stable, reconfigures itself on the fly, and marks a major leap toward scalable, long-running quantum systems with stronger error correction.

2. Quantum Internet Live on Verizon Network

Penn engineers deployed a “Q-chip” on Verizon’s commercial fiber, transmitting quantum and classical signals simultaneously. Maintaining 97% fidelity, the chip uses standard Internet Protocol, error correction, and dynamic routing, demonstrating a scalable quantum internet capable of integrating with existing infrastructure.

3. QuantWare & C-DAC Partner on Hybrid Quantum Computing

QuantWare and India’s C-DAC signed an LoI to co-develop hybrid quantum computing systems, advancing cryogenic electronics and superconducting quantum processors.
